Mission Statement

Hello! Mind the cobwebs as I get myself organized. It’s past time that I build out a brand for myself, and this blog will be an avenue for that as I move forward in my careers.

I may not have a name or even a design for this space yet, but the purpose is already clear – to explore the intersection of PROJECTING and PROTECTING one’s identity, because that is who and where I am.

PROTECTING: By day, I’m an IT professional who began in the IT Support space and am building on my CISSP and email security experience to travel further in the cybersecurity realm. This includes an upcoming search for my next role after my current company completes its transition to a new managed service provider.

PROJECTING: By night, I am active in local theatre. I am classically-trained (BA Theatre), and for the past 8 years I’ve been fortunate to be a member of two performance companies that booked most of my year. I am by no means “famous”, but an actor’s identity is a large part of their product.

This blog will focus strictly on the intersection. Example topics are thoughts on how someone who is non-technical can protect their online identity, boosting the signal on incidents regarding social media, sample phishing email templates with the questions one should ask so that you can recognize the real from the fake. Anything that purely discusses PROJECTING will be more of a meta take – advice from myself and or others on how to do so safely, what works, what doesn’t. I might also explore reviewing social media apps – what to look for, how to see “who profits”, other pros and cons.

If you are interested in my theatre work – thank you, but I’ll focus on that elsewhere. There will likely be a Linktree or similar link in my bio.

Do you have a question or an idea for a blog topic? Please comment or reply, and I’ll do my best to answer – likely in a different blog post. I will do my best to anonymize any specific situations. This is a “no shame” space, but by eliminating certain specifics (app, company, names) others might also recognize their own personal situation and be helped by the topic.

Please do respect the other people on the thread. Remember there is another person on the other end of that comment. When you disagree with a review or method, attack the argument, not the person. Don’t just jump on to posts to promote your own product or service; that belittles their experience.
